About Us

Who We Are

Triangle Residential Options for Substance Abusers (TROSA), founded in 1994, is a comprehensive, long-term, residential substance abuse recovery program located in Durham, North Carolina. TROSA is now the largest residential therapeutic community in the state serving over 300 individuals.

About Our Program

TROSA's program is offered at no cost to the individual, this ensures that substance abusers from all socio-economic backgrounds can have access to treatment. Your help makes this possible. The support of individuals, foundation and corporations is critical to TROSA’s mission.

TROSA serves a diverse population. Residents range in age from 18 to 60. Most have       struggled with addiction for over ten years and have tried multiple other programs.
There are many components to the TROSA Program including:

  • Educational Opportunities
  • Vocational Training
  • Health and Wellness Care
  • Therapeutic Care
  • Leadership Opportunities

As a result, TROSA graduates have professional skills, good work ethic and a sense of responsibility that helps them transition into society and maintain their recovery.

TROSA Works

After completing the 2-year TROSA program, 100% of TROSA graduates are employed upon graduation. In addition, National rates of relapse are between 40%-60% within the first year after completing a drug rehabilitation program. At TROSA less than 10% of graduates relapse within their first year.
We feel strongly that our success is related to our ongoing support of TROSA graduates through the Aftercare program. More than 100 TROSA graduates continue their involvement through Aftercare, receiving subsidized sober housing, access to affordable transportation, and participating in bi-weekly support groups to help ensure that they sustain their recoveries and successfully re-enter mainstream society.
